Highlite International offers a complete range of architectural / outdoor lightproducts. Ranging from a "simple" outdoor-light to a sophisticated architectural illumination-system These products are applicable in a large number of situations, and not only outdoors: - Fairs
- Exhibitions
- (historical) Buildings
- Amusement parks
- Outdoor spectacles
- Party lights
- Christmas lighting
- Theatre
- Television
- Concerts
- etc., etc., etc.!!!

The use of these special light-products is only limited to your own creativity: the special characteristics of these products enable you to "paint" with light and give color to many different scenes and situations. With this in mind it should be stated that the term "architectural lighting" is not completely right: these special light-products have a much wider field of application, outdoor but also indoor! Due to these usage, specially outdoors, it is naturally that these products face different, higher technical demands: for outdoor-use there has to be some sort of protection against weather/atmospherical influences. This degree of protection is expressed in a code, the so-called Ingress Protection (IP) code ( go to our support-area to learn more about the IP-codes).
In general there are 2 types of outdoorlighting:

Narrow Beam spots
Wide Beam spots
Narrow Beam spots: these are outdoor spots with an extremely high lightoutput; these spots are often used as "eye-catcher" at clubs or disco's. The use of these spots is somewhat limited due to their construction and lightoutput-specifications: they deliver a very bright but narrow lightbeam that sometimes reaches a distance of several Kilometres!

Wide Beam spots: this group is the actual "architectural lighting" and embodies specially designed lightsystems to illuminate large areas, as buildings, constructions or outdoor-scenes. These spots have also a great light-ouput but offer also other possibilities as colorchanging controlled by DMX 512.

Highlite offers a diversity of outdoorlighting from several vendors, each with it's own design, field of use and price-tag:

Ingress protection (IP) code

The ingress protection (IP) code denotes the protection against dust, solid objects and moisture provided by the luminaire enclosure. If no code is marked the luminaire is deemed to be IP20. Ingress Description Degree of protection according Degree of protection (IP) as Pictogram protection of equipment code CEE against ingress of liquid Protection against contact with live or moving parts inside the IP 20 Ordinary - enclosure by No protection. fingers. Protection against ingress of medium size solid foreign bodies. Protection against contact with live or Protection moving parts against drops of inside the condensed water.

Ingress protection (IP) code Description according as CEE Pictogram Degree of protection Degree of protection of equipment against ingress of liquid
IP 20 Ordinary - Protection against contact with live or moving parts inside the enclosure by fingers. Protection against ingress of medium size solid foreign bodies. No protection.
IP 21 Dripproof  Protection against contact with live or moving parts inside the enclosure by fingers. Protection against ingress of medium size solid foreign bodies. Protection against drops of condensed water. Drops of condensed water falling on the enclorure have no harmful effect.
IP 22 Dripproof  Protection against contact with live or moving parts inside the enclosure by fingers. Protection against ingress of medium size solid foreign bodies. Protection against drops of falling liquid which, when the enclosure is tilted at any angle up to 15 degrees from the vertical, shall have no harmful effect. (Dripproof).
IP 23 Rainproof  Protection against contact with live or moving parts inside the enclosure by fingers. Protection against ingress of medium size solid foreign bodies. Protection against rain. Driving rain at an angle up to 60 degrees from the vertical shall have no harmful effect.(Rainproof).
IP 34 Splashproof  Protection against contact with live or moving parts inside the enclosure by tools, wires or objects thicker than 2,5mm. Protection against ingress of small solid foreign bodies. Protection against splashing. Liquid splashed from any direction shall have no harmful effect. (Splashproof).
IP 44 Splashproof  Protection against contact with live or moving parts inside the enclosure by tools, wires or objects thicker than 1mm. Protection against ingress of very small solid foreign bodies. Protection against splashing. Liquid splashed from any direction shall have no harmful effect. (Splashproof).
IP 54 Dustproof  Complete protection against contact with live or moving parts inside the enclosure. Protection against harmful deposits of dust. The ingress of dust cannot enter in an amount sufficient to interfere with satisfactory operation of the equipment. (Dustproof). Protection against splashing. Liquid splashed from any direction shall have no harmful effect. (Splashproof).
IP 55 Jetproof  Complete protection against contact with live or moving parts inside the enclosure. Protection against harmful deposits of dust. The ingress of dust cannot enter in an amount sufficient to interfere with satisfactory operation of the equipment. (Dustproof).
Protection against water jets. Water projected by a nozzle from any direction under stated conditions shall have no harmful effect. (Jetproof).
IP 67 Watertight  Complete protection against contact with live or moving parts inside the enclosure and against the ingress of dust. (Dusttight). Protection against immersion in water. It shall not be possible for water to enter the enclosure under stated conditions of pressure and time.
IP 67 Dusttight  Complete protection against contact with live or moving parts inside the enclosure and against the ingress of dust. (Dusttight). Protection against immersion in water. It shall not be possible for water to enter the enclosure under stated conditions of pressure and time.
IP 68 h.. -  Complete protection against contact with live or moving parts inside the enclosure and against the ingress of dust. (Dusttight). Protection against indefinite immersion in water. Under specified pressure, it shall not be possible for water to enter the enclosure.

SAFETY CLASSIFICATION The following provides an explanation of some of the most common classifications applied to luminaires:

CLASS I Luminaires in this class are electrically insulated and provided with connection with earth. Exposed metal parts that could become live in the event of basic insulation failure are protected earthing.

CLASS II Class II luminaires are designed and constructed so that protection against electric shock does not rely on basic insulation only. This can be achieved by means of reinforced or double insulation. No provision for earthing is provided.

CLASS III Protection against electric shock relies on supply at Safety Extra - Low Voltage (SELV) and in which voltages higher than those of SELV are not generated (max. 50V ac rms).

F MARK Luminaires suitable for mounting on normally combustible surfaces (ignition temperature at least 200¡C) are marked with the "F" symbol.

ta CLASSIFICATION Denotes the maximum ambient temperature in which the luminaire is suitable for use. No ta mark indicates for use max. 25¡C ambients.
